JOB TITLE
- Catering Manager Industrial Catering
PLACE OF WORK
SCOPE AND GENERAL PURPOSE
- To manage the catering services of a company to their requirements and satisfaction,
within the agreed budgetary limits.
RESPONSIBLE TO
RESPONSIBLE FOR
- Subordinate Catering Staff
LIAISES WITH
- Customers
- Suppliers
- Maintenance Department
- Other catering managers
LIMITS OF AUTHORITY
- Purchasing of food through authorized suppliers only
- No cash purchases may be made above agreed limit
MAIN DUTIES:
- Ensure the provision of quality food and service, to the requirements and satisfaction
of the company
- Plan and cost menus, making sure that budgetary limits and prescribed menus are adhered
to
- Ensure correct and timeous completion of all administrative duties
- Ensure that cash-up procedures are strictly adhere to
- Ensure that all monies are banked in accordance with laid-down procedures
- Ensure that staff records are up to date and kept in accordance with company and
statutory requirements
- Ensure that hygiene standards comply with company and statutory requirements
- Ensure effective security in all areas under his/her control
- Be aware of and respond to the needs of staff, including induction, monitoring
performance, coaching and ensuring that appropriate training is effected
- Carry out On-job-Training as requested by the company
- Ensure that regular fire drills are held, evacuation procedures understood and effected
- Ensure that OSHA and NOSA regulations are adhered to
- Complete and submit all necessary relevant documentation in the event of fire, theft,
burglary or accident
- Ensure that staff are correctly dressed at all times
- Recruit, interview and manage subordinates complying with company and statutory
procedures
- Practice and be seen to be practicing good industrial relations
- Constantly be aware of the needs of the customer, continuously striving to create the
right environment
IRREGULAR DUTIES:
- Relieve or assist in another company outlet
- Attend to customer complaints satisfactorily
- Take the necessary action in the event of burglary, theft, fire or a breach of statutory
regulations
- Attend meetings and training courses as required
