SCOPE AND GENERAL PURPOSE

• Sets up the restaurant prior to service and prepares restaurant mise-en-place.
• Takes orders from restaurant guests and serves food when prepared.
• Cleans restaurant after service.

RESPONSIBLE TO

• Head Waiter

MAIN DUTIES

• Prepares restaurant for service
  • Vacuums carpet
  • Wipes tables and sideboards
  • Lays tables with tablecloth, cutlery, crockery and condiments
  • Ensures restaurant mise-en-place is completed before service
• Greets guests at assigned tables and ensures each guest has received a menu
• Removes unrequired covers
• Takes order from guest, obtains the meal order and hands to kitchen personnel for preparation
• Collects order when prepared and serves to guest
• Clears all dirty cutlery and crockery from the table once guests have completed their meal
• Offers desserts and coffee to guests
• Maintains a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance
• Ensures that uniforms are clean and in a good state of repair
• Knows all items on the menu and the basic ingredients and method of preparation of each
• Ensures that all items received by the guest are charged for
