NEW MAXIMUM EARNINGS CEILING 

7 December 2000 

The Minister of Labour has approved an increase in the maximum earnings ceiling by virtue of which a person qualifies as a contributor to the Unemployment Insurance Fund, with effect from 1 January 2001. Contributions will from this date be payable in respect of all employees earning R 97 188.00 and less per annum. The increase was announced in Government Notice No. 1197 that was published in Government Gazette No. 21786 dated 23 November 2000.
