Why is the focus on the human element important now?

That focus on the human element is what we need now more than ever, especially given that technology is coming into our workplace at a faster pace than ever before. It's doing so in ways that are really challenging our human identity at work. If you think about the impact of technology today, nudging technology can tell us how we should behave, how we should shift our behavior when we're talking to our colleagues, when we're giving feedback, when we're receiving feedback. If we think about the algorithms at work that are used to program technologies like RPA, AI, and cognitive, they are literally calculating how we do our work on a day to day basis. Something that's very personal to each one of us. If we think about survey technologies, they're asking us questions around how we feel at every given moment, and coordinating different points of contact that we may have throughout the day to tell us how we feel, and what we're feeling about. Then finally sensing technologies are telling us how we're going to think in the future, using predictive analytics to give us that insight in terms of things we might not even know about ourselves. Now all of that technology is good. That data is incredibly powerful. It can help move organizations forward. But it can also create a sense of loss in the workplace for the human, and that is exactly why we believe organizations need to take the time now to reinvent with a human focus.
