 Course content

 

 A Human Resource Strategic Plan provides a framework to guide the application of all aspects of an organization’s human resource practices. It identifies a long-term vision, supporting success factors, and the most immediate priorities needed to achieve  the business strategy (together with detailed action plans to implement the  priority projects.) 

Like all of the other major business functions, human resources must accomplish a wide range of activities from basic transaction processing to strategic planning in order to be successful. The importance ascribed to each of those functional activities in large part represents the organisation’s human resource strategy. 

The human resources practitioner should ensure that the HR Strategy is integrated with broader organisational objectives. Above all, it should ensure that the rest of the organisation accepts the strategy. To achieve this objective, practitioners should:-

 

  • consult all stakeholders on the nature of the strategy;
  • cultivate and develop allies and supporters of the strategy through the consultation process;
  • focus on the benefits which are being derived from the strategy through talking to and persuading others, and by marketing the benefits of the strategy with concrete examples of how it has helped;
  • check that there is real commitment to the strategy at all levels of the organisation;
  • give regular feedback on the implementation of the plan through employee newsletters, exhibitions etc;
  • where possible, build into the strategy quantifiable outcomes which can be easily monitored and evaluated, so that it is possible to show the effect;
  • make the strategy part of the induction process - especially for senior managers.

8.      Developing the overall HR strategy

9.      Generating the required Human Resources

10.  How to make your HR Strategy integral to the business’s planning

11.  Keeping it dynamic and flexible by tracking the business trends

12.  Implementing and evaluating of the HR strategy

13.  Engaging stakeholders through effective workplace communication initiatives

Each delegate will receive a printed and electronic manual which includes case studies, exercises, checklists and toolkits in order to develop their own HR Strategies. This workshop will focus on the practical development of a Human Resources Strategic Plan and contain various case studies.
