Course Content

This two-day workshop and the accompanying manual have been designed to suit the needs of the HR practitioner and the line manager who is required to communicate important issues within their organisation. This 2 day course delivers sound, practical and easy to follow advice to help you through the process of:

  • analysing your organisations communication requirements
  • identify your stakeholders
  • identify the correct communicators
  • communicating the message via the correct medium
  • drawing up the communication plans
  • measuring and evaluate your communication
  • implementing the correct policies and procedure in order to ensure the continued use of effective communication
  • keep you prepared in the case of an emergency

1. Why is Workplace Communication so important, especially to the HR practitioner?

Strategic workplace communications has become increasing important in the workplace since communications is essential in:

  • protecting the organisation’s image and identity in the market
  • maintaining high staff morale
  • supporting the organisations goals and objectives and making these known to staff
  • facilitating and encouraging teamwork and information sharing
  • assisting with change management and project communication
  • encouraging and facilitating an open and honest culture in the organisation
  • fostering close working relationships with all divisions in the organisation

2. Overall aim of this 2-day workshop

The overall aim of this workshop is to enhance the success of your communication by providing you with practical skills, knowledge and tools needed by communicators within an organisation. This workshop and the accompanying manual have been designed to suit the needs of the HR practitioner or line manager who is required to communicate important issues within their organisation such as:

  • Why staff and management should adhere to labour legislation.
  • The implementation of Employment Equity within an organisation.
  • Encouraging two way communications within their organisation in order to improve morale and efficiency.

This 2 day workshop and the accompanying manual cover the following important workplace communication issues:

b)       The role and requirements of the communication specialist in the workplace.

c)       How to plan the Communication Strategy

d)       The advantage of Strategic Internal Communication

e)       How to creating a common organisational culture

f)         How to analyse the organisation’s communication requirements and how to conduct a communication audit

g)       How to build the communication message, by understanding the

h)       various stages of commitment

i)         the basic principles of communication

·         the different communication styles

·         checklists for designing a change message

·         identifying common communication myths

·         identifying and prioritising your stakeholders

·         identifying the correct communicators

·         understanding the how to implement and make use of communication champions

j)         How to communicate via the correct channel or medium

k)       How to draw up your communication plan

l)         How to benchmark your communications

m)     How to measure and evaluate your communications
